Lexus service in Savannah

Your Lexus is due and the rest of the day is already spoken for. Send us the mileage and we can arrange the visit, so the car goes straight in when you arrive.

Service guideYour Lexus, properly maintained.

What service is due at your mileage?

Chances are you have a maintenance reminder on the dash, a letter in the mail or a noise you cannot place, and you want to know what is due, whether it is covered, and how much of the week it takes.

The tables come first. The interval table covers every step, from your first service out to 60,000 miles, including the ones you have already passed.

Every interval follows the Lexus schedule, and every visit is described as we carry it out here. Where a figure depends on your car, send us the VIN and we will read it from the record. Your question is probably one of these.

How does a service visit here run?

Every 6 months or 5,000 miles

The months and the miles both count, so whichever you reach first is the one that applies. A car that barely moves still reaches its visit on the date.

Your first two services are covered.

LexusCare includes the first and second scheduled services, at 6 months or 5,000 miles and 12 months or 10,000 miles. After that, you pay for them.

Brake fluid runs on its own schedule.

30,000 and 60,000 miles, on a separate schedule from the oil change. It is the item most owners are not expecting to see on a quote.

What a service visit at Chatham Parkway Lexus looks like

Step 1: Your mileage and model at booking

The odometer reading tells us which step of the schedule you are due for and how much time to book.

Step 2: What you are hearing from the car

Describing the noise gets you the right technician and enough time booked.

Step 3: Drop-off from 7:30 am on a weekday

Saturday runs 8:00 am to 1:00 pm only, so a Saturday job needs to be booked early in the week.

Step 4: We read your VIN, your history and any open campaigns

Service done at any Lexus dealership is on the national record, so an out-of-state visit still counts.

Step 5: You hear what was found before anything is decided

Where an inspection turns into a replacement, we tell you which measurement it failed.

Step 6: You approve, and anything deferred is written down

We do the work, and the next visit starts from a written record.

Book the visit

Send the mileage and the noise, and we confirm your day.

When you book with your odometer reading and a description of the noise, we set aside the right amount of time and have the parts ready before you arrive.

Our lane runs from 7:30 in the morning on weekdays. Saturday closes at one o'clock, so a Saturday job is worth booking early in the week.

How does a service visit go?

I want to know…

What is due at my mileage?

Ask us for the maintenance schedule line that matches your mileage, and we will read it through with you.

  • We pull the items due at your mileage from the booklet.
  • We separate the inspections from the replacements.
  • We show which items come due by date and which by mileage.
  • We tell you what your warranty covers before we bill you.

The dashboard light tells you that something needs attention, and the schedule tells you exactly what that something is.

Still deciding which visit you are due?

Send us the VIN and the mileage and we will tell you which step of the schedule you are on, which recall campaigns are open on your car, and what your last visit flagged.

1. What is due on your Lexus at your mileage

Odometer or monthsWhat landsWhat it means on the day
6 months or 5,000 milesTire rotation, fluid levels, brake look, road testCovered under LexusCare on a new car. No oil at this one unless yours runs conventional oil.
12 months or 10,000 milesEngine oil and filter, 0W-20The second and last visit LexusCare covers. Cabin filter goes in here too where one is installed.
18 months or 15,000 milesInspection visitAxle trunks, ball joints, brake lines and hoses, coolant, exhaust, steering. The cabin filter is cleaned, not replaced.
24 months or 20,000 milesOil and filter againBack to the short visit. Oil changes fall on the 10,000-mile steps, and the visits in between are inspections.
30 months or 25,000 milesInspection visitNo oil. If you have been quoted one here, ask which item called for it.
36 months or 30,000 milesThe heavy oneBrake fluid, engine air filter and cabin filter all replaced, on top of the oil service.
Every 6 months after thatThe pattern repeats to 60,000 milesThe Lexus schedule runs out to 72 months or 60,000 miles.
Under 10,000 miles a yearThe six-month date comes before the mileageSix months is six months. A car that barely moves still reaches its visit on the date.
A visit you have already missedBring it in and we read the VINWe will pick the schedule back up from your car's record, so you never have to guess where you are on it.

The thing to trust is the maintenance reminder in the dash and the odometer, not a sticker on the windshield. The months and the miles both count at every step, so six months of light driving still means the visit is due.

If you are between two steps of the schedule, send us the VIN. We will read your car's actual history and tell you exactly where you stand.

2. What is on the list at each visit

ItemWhen it fallsThe part owners tend to miss
Engine oil and filter, 0W-20Every 10,000 milesEvery 5,000 if your car runs conventional oil instead of synthetic.
Tire rotation and pressuresEvery visit, 5,000 milesThis is the one item on every single step of the schedule.
Brake fluid30,000 and 60,000 milesOn its own clock, not the hour left. It is the item most owners are not expecting.
Engine air filter30,000 and 60,000 milesReplaced, not cleaned.
Cabin air filterCleaned at 15,000 and 45,000; replaced at 30,000 and 60,000Clean and replace are different jobs. Ask which one you are being quoted.
Smart key battery15,000 and 30,000 milesSmall, easy to forget, and the reason a key suddenly stops working.
Brake pads, calipers and rotorsVisually inspected at every visitInspected every time, replaced only on measurement.
Brake rotor thickness and runoutMeasured at 30,000 milesThe visit where a pads-and-rotors conversation usually starts.
Transmission fluidInspected at 30,000 milesInspected. Replacement depends on the condition of the part, so we measure yours.
Lexus Personalized SettingsOn requestProgrammed at the 5,000-mile visit if you ask. Worth asking.

Read the table with the items down the side and the mileages across the top. The oil visits and the inspection visits alternate, so two services in a row are different jobs and take different amounts of time.

Where a line says inspect, not replace, nothing is automatically changed. If an inspection turns into a replacement, we will tell you which measurement it failed before anything is done.

3. What is covered, what is a wear item, what is maintenance

What it isHow long it runsWhat it covers or costs you
LexusCare complimentary maintenanceFirst and second services, 6mo/5,000 and 12mo/10,000 milesA maintenance program, not a warranty. It ends after the second visit.
Basic Warranty48 months or 50,000 milesThe defect promise. It does not pay for the oil, the filters or the brake fluid.
Powertrain Warranty72 months or 70,000 milesRuns longer than the Basic, and covers less of the car.
Wheel alignment and balancing12 months or 12,000 milesThe shortest term in the Lexus warranty. Many owners expect it to run with the Basic. It does not.
Corrosion perforation72 months, no mileage limitPerforation, meaning rusted through, not surface rust.
Scheduled maintenance after LexusCareYoursOil, filters, fluids and rotations are the owner's cost once the first two visits are used.
Brake pads and tiresNot warranty itemsWear items. They come due on measurement, not on a date.

The gap that catches people is alignment. It is covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles, a fraction of the Basic Warranty, so an alignment at 20,000 miles is yours even though the car is well inside its warranty.

If you are unsure which of the three applies to a quote you have been given, bring the quote. We will tell you which line pays for it.

4. Does keeping the warranty mean bringing it to us?

The situationWhere the work can happenWhat to keep
Routine maintenance and repairs you pay forAnywhere you likeUsing an independent shop cannot void your warranty.
Work the warranty is paying forAn authorized Lexus dealershipWhen the manufacturer pays, the manufacturer chooses the facility and the parts.
An aftermarket part was installedStill covered, unless that part caused the failureProving that is the job of the dealer or the manufacturer.
Proof of what was doneKeep every invoiceWhoever did the work. The record is what protects a later claim.
Work done at any Lexus dealershipWritten to Lexus National Service HistoryAny Lexus dealership in the United States can read it, so an out-of-state service still counts.

Federal law protects your warranty whoever does the routine maintenance. Every visit made at a Lexus dealership goes on the national record, so servicing with us keeps that record complete and our technicians see the car's full history.

Keep the invoices, whoever did the work. A complete record is what protects a later claim.

5. If your Lexus is L/Certified, what that changes about service

The L/Certified termWhat it meansWhat to check
161-point inspectionDone before the car is certifiedBy Lexus technicians, against Lexus standards.
Total View certificationInspected, reconditioned and evaluatedThe reconditioning is the part that matters. Ask what was replaced.
Complimentary scheduled maintenanceThe next four factory-recommended servicesTwo years or 20,000 miles from the day you buy it, whichever comes first.
When the coverage startsOn purchaseUnlike the new car warranty, which runs from the original in-service date.
Four services, not twoTwice what a new Lexus getsAt one visit every 6 months, that is roughly two years of visits covered.

The four covered services are the part people do not realize they have. If you bought L/Certified and have been paying for oil changes, bring the paperwork, and we will check what is left.

Send us the VIN, and we will read the actual agreement on your car. The in-service date determines where the warranty stands, not the date you bought it.

6. What do hybrid and electric Lexus batteries need?

What you are asking aboutThe termWhat we would confirm
Hybrid battery warrantyTen years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes firstOn 2020 and newer models.
Plug-in hybrid, fuel cell and battery electricSame ten-year or 150,000-mile termFrom model year 2020, on Lexus's own footnote.
Scheduled maintenance on a hybridThe same 6-month or 5,000-mile intervalA hybrid is not on a separate schedule.
Work we can take on your carAsk us before you bookAsk us before you book and we will confirm what we can take on.

Ten years or 150,000 miles is the figure to check, because it decides whether a used hybrid makes sense. It covers the battery itself, not every part of the hybrid system.

Before you book anything battery-related, ask us and we will confirm what we can take on for your car.

7. How long the car is with us

What you needHow it works hereWho it suits
Weekday service hoursMonday to Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pmAn early drop off before work is the most common way people do this.
Saturday8:00 am to 1:00 pmA short window. Book it early in the week or it is gone.
SundayClosedIf the weekend is your only option, Saturday morning is the only time we are open.
A short visitRotation, fluid check, road testThe 5,000 and 25,000-mile type visits, with no oil and no filters.
A long visitThe 30,000-mile oneBrake fluid plus two filters plus the oil service. Plan for the car to stay.
Somewhere to waitA lounge, and customers mention massage chairsThe lounge upstairs is what owners mention most after the people.
A loaner or a rideAsk when you bookAvailability depends on the date and the job, so tell us when you book.

Plan around which visit you are on. An inspection visit and the 30,000-mile visit are not the same job and should not carry the same time estimate.

Tell us the mileage and anything you are hearing when you book. When we book enough time for the work, you can wait for the car instead of coming back for it.

8. Recalls and campaigns, and how to check yours

The routeWhat it coversWhat you need
Send us the VIN or the plateWe run the recall check for youIt takes two minutes, and you get a straight answer on what is open.
What it coversOpen safety recalls and service campaigns since 1999For vehicles sold in the United States, its territories and Mexico.
What we needA license plate plus its state, or the 17-digit VINThe VIN is the reliable one if the car has changed hands.
Bringing it to usRecall work is at no cost to youThere is no deadline that changes that, so a letter you ignored is still valid.

A recall letter that has been sitting on the counter for months is still good. Recall repair is free and never expires. Send us the VIN, and we will schedule it.

It is usually worth putting a recall on the same visit as whatever else is due, so you save a separate trip. Say so when you book, and we will book enough time for both.

What else you may be wondering

Intervals and what is due

How often does my Lexus need servicing?

Every 6 months or 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. Lexus publishes the contents of every step from 6 months and 5,000 miles out to 72 months and 60,000 miles.

My Lexus barely does any miles. Do I still need the six-month visit?

Yes. Both halves of the interval are live, and whichever arrives first counts, so a garage-kept car reaches six months on the same day a commuter does.

There is no Service A or Service B on my Lexus. What am I looking for?

Lexus does not use service letters. The schedule is named by time and mileage, as 6MO/5K, 12MO/10K, and so on. Find your mileage and read down that column, or send us the VIN and we will read it for you.

Why did my last visit not include an oil change?

Oil changes fall every 10,000 miles, so the 5,000, 15,000 and 25,000-mile visits are inspection and rotation visits. That is the schedule working normally, not something being skipped.

What is added at 30,000 miles beyond the 20,000-mile visit?

Brake fluid, the engine air filter, and the cabin air filter are all replaced, and the brake rotors are measured for thickness and runout. It is the heaviest of the ordinary visits.

What LexusCare covers

Does a new Lexus come with free maintenance?

The first and second scheduled maintenance services are included through LexusCare at 6 months or 5,000 miles and 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. After that, scheduled maintenance is yours.

Is LexusCare the same thing as the warranty?

No. LexusCare is a maintenance program that pays for two scheduled services. The warranty is a defect promise, and it does not pay for oil, filters or brake fluid at any point.

My car uses conventional oil. Does that change anything?

Yes. Oil changes are due every 5,000 miles instead of every 10,000 on vehicles using non-synthetic oil, so your oil changes come due twice as often.

Warranty, wear and what is covered

How long is the basic warranty?

48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Is my wheel alignment covered?

Only for 12 months or 12,000 miles, which is much shorter than the Basic Warranty. An alignment at 20,000 miles is yours even though the car is still inside its warranty.

How long is the powertrain warranty?

72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first. It runs longer than the Basic Warranty and covers less of the car.

Is rust covered?

Corrosion perforation is covered for 72 months with no mileage limit. Perforation means rusted through, not surface rust.

Are brake pads and tires covered?

No. They are wear items, and they come due on measurement, not on a date. We tell you which measurement failed before anything is replaced.

Having it serviced somewhere else

Will I void my warranty using an independent shop?

No. Federal law protects your warranty whoever does the routine maintenance. Servicing with us keeps the national record complete, and if you have had work done elsewhere, keep the invoices.

So when does it have to be a Lexus dealership?

When the warranty is paying, if the manufacturer is covering the work or the parts, it chooses the facility and the parts.

I had an aftermarket part installed. Am I still covered?

Yes, unless that part caused the failure, and it is for the dealer or manufacturer to show that it did, not for you to show that it did not.

I had it serviced in another state. Does that count?

Yes. Work done at any Lexus dealership is written to the Lexus National Service History database, which any Lexus dealership in the United States can read.

Certified pre owned

What is checked before a car becomes L/Certified?

A comprehensive 161-point inspection performed by Lexus technicians, as part of what Lexus calls the Total View certification process, in which the car is inspected, reconditioned and evaluated.

Does an L/Certified car come with any free servicing?

Yes, and more than a new one. It carries the next four factory-recommended services for two years or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first, starting from the day you buy it.

Hybrid and electric

How long is the hybrid battery covered?

Ten years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first, on 2020 and newer models. Lexus applies the same term to plug-in hybrid, fuel cell and battery electric vehicles from model year 2020.

Is a hybrid on a different service schedule?

No. It is the same 6-month or 5,000-mile rhythm. What differs is the battery coverage, not the maintenance.

Your visit here

How early can I drop the car?

Our service lane opens at 7:30 am Monday to Friday and closes at 6:00 pm. Saturday runs 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, and we are closed Sunday.

Can I get a loaner car?

Ask when you book and we will confirm what is available for your visit.

Recalls

Why does a Lexus recall search show the Toyota name?

Lexus recalls are handled through Toyota's system, which covers Lexus cars by design. Send us the VIN and we will check it for you.

I ignored a recall letter months ago. Is it too late?

No. Recall repairs are at no cost to you, and no deadline changes that. Bring the letter, or the VIN, and we will schedule it alongside whatever else is due.

People also ask

How often does a Lexus need servicing?

Every 6 months or 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. Lexus publishes the contents of each step from 6 months and 5,000 miles through to 72 months and 60,000 miles, and both halves of the interval are live at every step.

Does Lexus offer free maintenance?

The first and second scheduled maintenance services are included on a new Lexus through LexusCare, at 6 months or 5,000 miles and 12 months or 10,000 miles. An L/Certified car instead carries the next four services for two years or 20,000 miles.

How often should Lexus brake fluid be changed?

At 30,000 miles and again at 60,000 miles. It runs on its own schedule, separate from the oil change, which is why it surprises people.

How long is the Lexus hybrid battery warranty?

Ten years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first, on 2020 and newer models, and Lexus extends the same term to its plug-in hybrid, fuel cell and battery electric vehicles from model year 2020.

Will using an independent shop void my Lexus warranty?

No. Federal law protects your warranty whoever does the routine maintenance. A visit with us goes on the national Lexus record; if you have had work done elsewhere, keep the invoices.

How do I check a Lexus recall by VIN?

Send us the 17-digit VIN, or the license plate with the state it was issued in, and we check every open safety recall and service campaign since 1999 and book the work at no cost to you.
